About

Hi all!

I'm Erin, a high school teacher from upstate NY.

For the past 4+ years, I've taught in a high school special education program that focuses on students' social and emotional health, in addition to the academic program required by New York State to graduate high school. In my current position, I serve as special education teacher, English teacher, Global History teacher, and literacy push-in support.

In my previous teaching experiences, I have been in small farming communities, diverse suburban schools, and a high-need urban district. I have seen so many students disengage from school because they were going to take over the family farm, go back to the Middle East for an arranged marriage, and struggle with teen parenthood and gangs. All these experiences have led to my philosophy of teaching beyond the test.

I have a bachelor's degree in Secondary English & Secondary Special Education from Keuka College and a master's degree in Literacy Grades 5-12 from the College of St. Rose, with three NYS certifications.

Outside of teaching, I love to read, watch way too much TV, eat delicious food, visit Disney World, and hang out with my husband.
